What are rubber buffers?
Rubber buffers, also known as impact buffers, are incredibly useful in a range of applications, as they act as a sturdy support which absorbs kinetic energy. This prevents any disruption to machine operation, as well as stopping vehicle parts from damaging each other, so are essential when it comes to avoiding potential repair costs later down the line.
What types of rubber buffers are there?
Here at Albert Jagger, we supply a variety of different rubber buffers, which have predrilled holes allowing for easy fitment. They are useful in a vast range of different applications, from use in the transport industry with trucks, trailers, vans, and airport vehicles, to industrial applications such as glass rack carriers, sheet metal and forklift trucks.
These rubber buffers come in many different shapes and sizes to match the specific use case:
- Our Rubber Conical Buffers (with 40mm, 75mm, 98mm and 100mm stand off options available) are excellent for applications requiring taller buffers, such as horsebox ramps.
- D Section Rubber Buffers, also known as Impact Buffers, are available in 75mm, 76mm and 92mm stand off options. They are brilliant when it comes to impact absorption, meaning they work efficiently in applications such as loading bays, truck rears, and protecting walls and surfaces.
- We supply Oval Rubber Buffers, available either with single mouse and 22mm standoff, or double mouse and 38mm stand off, which are particularly useful for use with lorries, vans, ramps, dropside vans and tipper trucks.
- The Round Rubber Buffers we have available include options with 12mm, 22mm, 25.5mm, 26mm or 38mm standoff. These buffers are hardwearing, making them great for use in general applications.
- Our Square Rubber Buffers work efficiently when used with vehicle rears, HGV trailers, and loading bays. They are available in Heavy Duty (120mm, 190mm, 209.5mm, 250mm, 350mm), Medium Duty (148mm, 200mm, 248.5mm, 300mm, 403mm), and Light Duty (126mm), meaning there are a variety of options to best suit the required load and size.
- We also have Top Hat Rubber Buffers (102mm), commonly used with tail lifts and horseboxes, and Rubber Roller Buffers (Single Horizontal and Double Vertical) each with a steel bracket.
What type of rubber is best for impact buffers?
There are multiple different types of rubber which are commonly used for rubber buffers, including natural and synthetic rubber. Synthetic rubber has significant advantages compared to natural rubber, particularly due to the greater durability it provides – this is a result of its resistance to damage from chemicals, high and low temperatures, ozone, sunlight, and more. At Albert Jagger, all of our buffers use synthetic rubber.
