Go green or go home

Updated 24/10/2022

Here at Albert Jagger, we notice the importance of reducing our carbon footprint. To help fight climate change we are investing heavily in sustainability throughout the business to reduce our greenhouse gases.

What are greenhouse gases?
Greenhouse gases that trap heat and stop it escaping into space acting as a blanket, warming the planet.

Main causes of climate change
1. Fossil fuels
Electricity - We're proud to announce that our head office is now running on 100% LED lighting. With lighting accounting for nearly 5% of global CO₂ emissions, by switching to energy efficient lighting we’re helping minimise greenhouse gas emissions.

2. Transportation
With transportation being the UK’s largest emitter of greenhouse gases, Albert Jagger have introduced many ways to reduce transportation emissions from our employees to our products.

Company cars have been replaced with electric and hybrid vehicles to reduce air pollution. Employees are encouraged to cycle to work, with the Cycle Scheme. Whilst cycling reduces emissions, it also has physical and mental health benefits.

We’ve gone digital – with a fully equipped video conference room, Albert Jagger have been able to reduce business travel by encouraging online meetings.

Returning our manufacturing processes back into the UK has reduced our transportation footprint. No boats or planes required (or private jets).

3. Deforestation
Trees capture greenhouse gases but with forests disappearing at an alarming rate, these gases are accumulating in the atmosphere, warming the planet. We’re invested in the future of our forests by planting new trees to help regulate the climate.

4. Consumption
High levels of consumption require increased inputs of energy and materials, with over-use of recourses being costly.

Albert Jagger have encouraged employees to reuse, reduce and recycle, here’s how…
• Reuse - Donating clothes to charity to increase lifespan
• Reduce – Reducing paper usage with the aim to go paperless within the next 3 years
• Recycle – Recycling paper into packaging material

What more?
We haven’t stopped there… With a dedicated Green Army leading the way, Albert Jagger aims to be ISO 14001:2015 compliant by 2025.

On the agenda;
• Environmentally preferred materials
• Low-flow water valves
• Power through renewable energy

Minimising the impact of business practices on the environment is just the start to creating our sustainable future.
