The Ultimate Guide to Solar Solutions

Climate change is one of the biggest challenges we face today. Rising levels of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere are causing polar ice and glaciers to melt, sea levels to rise, and weather patterns to become more extreme. Human activity is a key driver of global warming through the burning of fossil fuels for energy, deforestation (which reduces the number of trees that absorb carbon dioxide), and the production of cement, chemicals, and metals.

There are many ways we can combat climate change, both as individuals and collectively. Key areas include transitioning to renewable energy and improving energy efficiency.

Solar power, a renewable energy source that converts energy from the sun into power, is recognised as one of the cheapest and cleanest solutions in the vital race to tackle climate change. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) estimates that wind and solar energy alone could deliver over one-third of the global emissions reductions required across all sectors to achieve a 1.5-degree pathway by 2030.

How do solar solutions benefit businesses?

With growing pressure on businesses to adopt greener practices, solar solutions offer a pathway to achieving sustainability goals by reducing reliance on fossil fuels. They deliver efficient, reliable, and cost-effective energy with minimal maintenance and low operational costs while helping businesses stay compliant with evolving regulations.

What options are available?

In partnership with Genie Insights and MIPV, we offer solar solutions that are modular, flexible, and fully customisable. Available in over 140 sizes ranging from 40W to 360W, with panel lengths up to 5 meters, these systems are designed to fit seamlessly into any application. You can choose from single, dual, or triple-lane configurations, including an option for undermount connectors to ensure a clean and streamlined appearance.

What are the key features?

These solar panels use CIGS (Copper Indium Gallium Selenide) technology, featuring thin-film solar cells that convert sunlight into energy with 15-18% efficiency. Unlike other technologies, CIGS panels don’t generate heat, eliminating the risk of overheating and potential fire hazards.

Designed to be aerodynamic and lightweight, these panels create no wind drag or loss of MPG. Weighing less than 3kg per square metre and just 3mm thick when bonded, they make solar technology accessible to businesses without the need for specialised tools. These simple peel-and-stick, plug-and-play panels require no drilling or racking. A self-cleaning EFTE non-stick coating ensures the panels remain clean and operational.

It's no secret that the UK isn’t the sunniest destination, but these panels are equipped with bypass diodes in every pair of cells, ensuring reliable performance even in low light, on cloudy days, or shaded areas.

Micro-fractures caused by vibrations or impacts are a common concern, but these panels contain no glass or polysilicon, making them shatterproof and durable. They are also flexible, allowing them to adapt seamlessly to curved roofs.
